Teacher's Day



On June 25 is celebrated Teacher's Day in Guatemala. In Mater Orphanorum the students prepared some activities for the teachers like dance, poems.

The students had one week free of homeworks, far away of the school.

May’s Activities

In this month in the School there were a lot of activities like Cultural Week, Marian’s praying, and Celebration of Corpus Christi.

Cultural Week



This year there were two representatives of each grade to participate as IMO’s candidate and Cultural’s candidate. Also there were competitions for Regional dance, International dance, Chorus, talent’s performance, Zumba’s dance, the presentation of a play named “El estudiante”.

Marian’s praying

To start Marian’s month there was the praying of the Rosary and the testimony of Joel Castillo, this day at every student was given a blessed Rosary; and to finish these activities, on May 30 there was a procession, the Scholar band accompanied it and girls did banners. Also there was the testimony of a woman and her faith in the rosary. The students brought a flower for the Virgin.

Corpus Christi

On May 31, the students elaborated altars that contain bread, wine, large cup, wheat, white and yellow flowers.  Priest Antonio guided the activity saying a praying in each altar and giving the blessing for all people that participated in the activity.

Secretary's Day



On April 26 is celebrated Secretary's Day, in all company, school, office, etc., everywhere has a secretary, the role of secretary is very important, she is the image of the Company.

In Mater Orphanorum School there was the celebration for Secretary's students, they went to IRTRA Petapa, and some of the schoolmates of Accountant and Bachillerato's career gave them a souvenir for their day.

Congratulations to be in this career, don't give up, fight for your dreams!!!

March's activities

For March in the School there was an activity for International Women's Day; also some preparatives for Stations of the Cross. Then you had the rest for Easterweek. Let's see in which way you participated and your opinion of these activities.



International Women's Day


For this day there was a civic ceremony, and a special presentation of one of your teachers. That day was a little charged because also there was a rehearsal for Stations of the Cross.

The questions about this day are:

Stations of the Cross


One of the biggest religious activities of the school is the Sations of the Cross, before the presentation grils made a cleaning, painting with lime trees, curbs; other day was the elaboration of carpets, each grade had their own space to do it; and on Friday March 23 was the presentation to the public.

February's Activities

    For this month you celebrate with your guide teacher and partners activities for Valentine's Day. 

Happy Valentine's Day
       For this day there was a gift exchange of a chocolate and a card between the students and their teacher.
There was music, a competition to the best decorated classroom, also there was time to dance in the field.

Nursing's Home visit
       In the same day as Secretaries' students made a visit to the old ladies that are in the Nursing Home. You prepared some activites as dancings and gave them a gitf (hat) and snacks. Also you talked with them about their life. 

Before to start the activitities the three grades took a group's picture.

Civic Ceremonies

Miss Independece

On September 4 all grades presented their candidate to miss Independence, they made propaganda. The election was made trough votes, the elecetion was on September 13. There was a winner for Middle School and another wineer for career.
For this girls had to made their ID card to simulate the real election process.

Civic Week

From September 12 to September 14 there were activities like: made civic altar, a traditional breakfast, the election of Miss Independence.

On September 14 there was a parade in which participated all girls form High School and some girls or Elementary School, the Scholar Band supported the activity, also there were the queens of Cultural Week (Miss Imo, Miss Sport, Miss Culture) and Misses Independence.

On September 27 Mater Orphanorum School celebrated our Virgin Orphan's Mother, the activties started since 5 a.m.
This year Fourth and Fifth accountant had to organize the prayer, the snack for people who got there early. Fourth bachelor made the procession, and all grades gave a gift to help people more needed.
Also there was a mass, sport games, and nuns gave all students an ice cream to celebrate Mater Orphanorum's Day.
